Webcam Astrophotography (23-7-2008)

Jupiter was at its best this month, when it was closest to Earth, and we could not miss this opportunity to observe its cloud bands and the Galilean satellites with the ever reliable C8 telescope. The atmosphere was quite steady, allowing us to use very high magnification to observe many amazing details in the Jupiter atmosphere. We also practised how to use a new webcam to capture the giant planet, but cloud rolled in when we attempted to photograph at a higher magnification.
