It was an ideal time to observe aurora in this year of solar maximum. Fairbank was chosen due to its proximity to the aurora oval and for its sunny climate in February. Staying in a lodge away from town, we managed to observe aurora successfully in seven nights out of a total of nine nights, including two fantastic overhead display.
